Laverne Jean (Hinzel) Brody, 75, lifelong resident of West Mifflin, beloved mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt and friend passed away Jan. 12, 2022, following a year-long battle with health issues. LaVerne was born Dec. 4, 1946, in Homestead, to William Andrew Hinzel and LaVerne Bertha (Stoebe) Hinzel. LaVerne was a graduate of Munhall High School. She enjoyed working for the Shorkey Auto Group, Irwin, for over 30 years and cherished the friendships made there. LaVerne loved so many deeply and was equally as loved. She loved life, was kind, thoughtful, supportive, an amazing cook, and so very funny. She loved the Steelers, rooting for them until the very end. Most of all she adored spending time with her daughters and grandsons. She showered them with love, affection and was their greatest cheerleader throughout her entire life. LaVerne is survived by her daughters, Kimberly (Brody) Hicks and Kelli (Brody) McKee; sons-in-law, Jason Hicks and David McKee; grandsons, Jackson Hicks and Luke McKee; and niece, Janel Diven. LaVerne was preceded in death by her father, William Hinzel; mother, LaVerne (Stoebe) Hinzel; and her beloved twin sister, Laurene (Hinzel) Diven. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, at GEORGE I. GREEN FUNERAL HOME, 3511 Main St., Munhall, PA 15120, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022, with Pastor Trent Stubrich officiating. A private interment will take place in Jefferson Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh.

We are sad to hear of Verne´s passing. This world has lost a sweet, kind, compassionate woman, and we have lost a dear friend.

What can you say about this wonderful woman. I worked with Verne for so many years and don´t think she ever had a bad day. She had a way of bringing everyone some joy every day. We´re going to miss you Verne RIP
