Matthew R. Burnsworth, 42, of Greensburg, made his journey to heaven Monday, July 19, 2021. After a long battle with the most rare and brutal cancer, we lost an amazing friend. Matt was a true force of nature who taught everyone he met invaluable lessons in faith, love, selflessness and courage. He was a graduate of Hempfield High School, where he participated in numerous sports. Matt received a bachelor's degree from Saint Vincent and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Along with his love for weightlifting and outdoor activities, he was a huge Formula One and UFC fan. Prior to returning to Greensburg, Matt was vice president of strategic sales for Info Group in Las Vegas, Nev. His family and friends were everything to him. Matthew was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joseph P. Murtha; and his paternal grandparents, Thresa and Raymond Burnsworth. He is survived by his loving and devoted mother, Lee Anne Murtha Gavlak, of Greensburg; his father, Raymond M. Burnsworth, of Connellsville; sister, Sarah Zagorce (Shawn), of Jeannette; maternal grandmother, Patricia Murtha, of Mt. Pleasant; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and his faithful dog, Koji. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Matt from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601, 724-837-0020. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in Saint Vincent Basilica, Latrobe. Everyone please go directly to the Basilica. Private interment will follow in Saint Vincent Cemetery, Latrobe. "Nothing will separate me from the love of God." In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to www.gofundme.com/f/help-matts-mom-with-medical-bill-funeral/donate.
