Alan Ray Pfeffer, 67, of Washington Township, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022, in UPMC Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Oct. 21, 1954, in Johnstown, he was a son of the late William Charles "Bill" Pfeffer and Mary Lou (Wheeler) Pfeffer. Alan was a graduate of Highlands High School, Class of 1972, and served our country with the Army as a mechanic during both Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield. He spent his entire career with the military, retiring on Nov. 30, 1995. Alan enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to the family camp in Tionesta. Alan also liked tinkering in his garage, but most loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles "Chuck" Pfeffer; and his sister, Billie Diane Stanford. Alan is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Jo (Zeilman) Pfeffer; children, John H. (Patty) Pfeffer, of Charleston, W.Va., Jennifer A. (fiance, Aaron Speziale) Andrasy, of Plum, and Lisa M. (Justin) Andrasy, of Cabot; grandchildren, Victoria, Sam, Johnathan, Lillian, Mackenzie, Jacob; siblings, Joyce McNutt, of Cabot, Perry Pfeffer, of Freeport, and Lisa Weikert, of Natrona Heights; and nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from noon to 4 p.m., the time of the celebration of life tribute service Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, at CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo, PA 15613. Please join the family as they honor Alan's life. Following the service, military honors will be accorded by Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard. Private interment will be in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Alan's memory to Wounded Warrior Project, 600 River Ave., Suite 400, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.
