Amelia June Sarne passed away peacefully on Monday, March 24, 2025. Until the very end, Amelia maintained her love of family and friends, sense of humor, and appreciation for a long, well-lived life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samena and Alessandro Sarne; and her siblings, Lucille Sarne Latagliata, Jerry Sarne, Phyllis Sarne Tabacek, and Gloria Sarne Paletta. She was a loving mother and is survived by her son, Jeffrey; sister-in-law, Patsy Sutton Sarne; her nieces and nephews and spouses, Anthony (Pat), Michele (Duke), Licia (Rich), Pam (Joe, dec.), Joe, John, Eric (Rita), Chris (Amy), Patrick (Lori), Mary Lu (Eddie), and Lenore (Dave); and many great-nieces and nephews and their spouses, Anthony (Lyda), Allison (Darren), Abbot, Christopher, Brittany, Alex (Tommy), Alexis, Jack, Mackenzie, Quintin, Tatiana, Trevor, John, Matthew, Gabriel, and Alexander; and great-great-nieces and nephews, Zoey, Gemma, and Isaac. Amelia was born on June 5, 1934, in New Kensington. She was the youngest of five children. She worked for Alcoa for many years after high school and then was the administrative assistant to the CEO of Burlington Mills/Ciba-Geigy until her retirement. Amelia was proud of her Italian Catholic heritage. She loved attending the Italian celebrations at Mount Saint Peter Church in New Kensington and enjoyed every bit of Italian cuisine, especially her pepperoni and rolls from Fazio's Italian Deli in Arnold. She cherished time with family and never missed a family reunion or any holiday where friends and family gathered. After retirement, Amelia's days were filled with her activities and social engagements of belonging to a bocce club, playing dominoes, and being a master at the game of bridge. She loved to travel and kept albums of all her adventures at home and abroad. She loved spending summers at the lake with her North Carolina friends playing bridge all day long. Amelia was always there to help family members when a crisis arose. Even though she was the youngest in her family, she always took on the motherly role. Besides calling New Kensington and Arnold her home, she lived for many years in Greensboro, NC, and Palm Harbor, FL. Amelia was a remarkable woman whose kindness and spirit touched everyone around her. We will be forever grateful to Craig and Christie LaValle and their family for all their love and care they showed Aunt Amelia. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held this summer in several locations: Palm Harbor, FL; Greensboro, NC; and New Kensington, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the
charity of your choice in Amelia's name.
