Doris McMahon-Bassett Obituary

Doris (Umbaugh) McMahon-Bassett, 86, of Cabot, passed away on March 3, 2025, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries. Born Nov. 24, 1938, in Tarentum, PA, she was the daughter of Samuel Umbaugh and Violet Kane Umbaugh. Doris worked as a laborer for Breeze Corp. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Community Church and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed baking and sharing her homemade cinnamon rolls and molasses cookies. She was a skilled seamstress, and she and Jerry enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. Surviving are her daughter, Sally Marshalek of Sarver, PA; her granddaughter, Jessica Marshalek of Sarver; her grandson, Matthew (Debbie) Kerchensky of Vandergrift; her brother, Allen Umbaugh of Avonmore, PA; and her great-grandson, Chad Kerchensky. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Bassett; her parents; three brothers, Richard Umbaugh, Leroy Umbaugh, and Theodore Umbaugh; and one granddaughter, Ashley Marshalek. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Noon at Pleasant Hill Community Church, 856 Benshoff Hill Road, Johnstown, PA 15906, with Pastor Rob Wolfe officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pleasant Hill Community Church or Camp Harmony, 1414 Plank Rd, Hooversville, PA 15936.
