James Theierl Obituary

James L. 'Flint' Theierl Sr., 79, of Lower Burrell, formerly of West Tarentum, passed away at home on Friday, May 23, 2025, after being ill the past four months. He was born on Oct. 31, 1945, in Harrison Township to the late Henry G. and Caroline (Blaser) Theierl. James lived his entire life in the area. He was an assembler for Westinghouse and Curtis Wright, Cheswick, in the nuclear division. James was a Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church, American Legion 868, Eagles, and the VFW, all of Lower Burrell; the Oregon Club, Brackenridge; and the IBEW Union. James graduated from Ken-Hi in 1964 and enjoyed card playing, fishing, and the Steelers. He especially enjoyed his family, children, and grandchildren. Survivors include his son, James L. (Leslie) Theierl Jr., of Arnold; grandson, John (Jordan) Marshall, of Houston, TX; and nine grandchildren, Arabelle, Alyssa, Joan, Raine, Mike, Rick, Jennifer, Christopher, and Ryan. Stepdaughters, Jackie (Keith Orkis) Ahlstrom, Lori C. (Rick) Wolanin, and Cathy Kleug. Also surviving is his brother, Henry G. Theierl, of TX. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan A. (Mink) Theierl, in 2019; and a sister-in-law, Judy (Jacobs) Theierl. Visitation 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2025, in DUSTER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 347 E 10th Ave., Tarentum, 724-224-1526. Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2025, in St. Margaret Mary Church, Lower Burrell. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
