Loretta Bernadette (Fetsko) Koval of Plum Borough, formerly of Monarch, died peacefully, lifted by love and music, on Aug. 30, 2025, at 88 . Born on Feb. 11, 1937, in Leisenring, to John and Margaret (Morris) Fetsko, she graduated from Dunbar Township High School and went on to be employed by Anchor Hocking before marrying and working full-time in the home. She was a member of Our Lady of Joy Roman Catholic Church in Plum Borough and a former member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Connellsville. Loretta was known throughout her life for her many skills and interests, including cooking and baking, especially traditional Slovak dishes and desserts; sewing dresses for her daughters, one-of-a-kind outfits for their Barbie dolls, and Halloween costumes for neighbors and family; leading a Girl Scout Brownie Troop; enjoying couple-style dances, be it a polka, jitterbug, foxtrot, or waltz; and later in life managing a big band orchestra, The Silvotones, with her beloved husband (trumpet player and lead vocalist), Bernie. A loving mother, grammy, aunt, and friend, Loretta was also known for her ability to strike up a conversation with anyone anywhere, her willingness to help others, her generous spirit, and her kind heart. She might have single-handedly kept the U.S. Postal Service in business with all the greeting cards she sent. Whether it was for a holiday, birthday, graduation, engagement, marriage, new job/house/baby, get well soon, or just because, Loretta always remembered those she loved with a special delivery. Loretta is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Bernard Koval. She is survived by her two daughters, Yvonne Creehan (Keith) of Pittsburgh, and Dianne Koval of Gaithersburg, MD; two grandsons, Matthew (Brittany) and Michael (Kimmy); three great-grandsons, Mason, Milo, and Kyler; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins. One sibling, brother Ronald, predeceased her. Loretta's funeral arrangements are under the care and supervision of the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC., 418 North Pittsburgh St., Connellsville, PA 15425. In accordance with Loretta's wishes, no viewing will be held. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Connellsville. Committal services and interment will follow in St. John R.C.
