Robert Cribbs Obituary

Robert E. "Bob" Cribbs, 85, of Vandergrift, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025, at his residence. Born May 18, 1940, in Blacklick, he was the son of the late William and Mildred Williams Cribbs. Bob was a 21-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he worked as an air traffic controller. He was a Vietnam veteran. He had been employed by IGA in Leechburg as a grocery manager. Bob was a member of the American Legion Post No. 114 and the Veterans of Foreign War Post No. 566, both in Vandergrift. He was a past member of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Apollo Lions Club, the Apollo No. 2 VFD, and a past Apollo Councilman. He enjoyed playing cards on Sunday with his family. Survivors include his companion of 31 years, Bobbi Garner of Vandergrift. He is also survived by his three daughters, Kim (Mike) Zelonka of North Apollo, Robin (David) Arooji of Piedmont, SC, and Cindy (Dan) Wheeler of Huntersville, NC; his stepdaughter, Michelle Cominos (George Galo) of Apollo; and his stepson, Jeff (Joelene) Cominos of Apollo. Bob has 12 grandchildren: Jake (Heather) Thurman, Jeff (Leanne) Zelonka, Josh (Lexa) Zelonka, Jesse Zelonka, Shane Tanner, Nicole Arooji, Chris Wheeler, Brenna Wheeler, Courtney (Clint) Klingensmith, Donovan Berry, Kaleb Mulkey, and Brinley Cominos; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bob is also survived by his two sisters, Barb Riggle of Vandergrift and Sandy (Wayne) Lafferty of Maryland; and his ex-wife, Judy Rumbaugh of Spring Church. At his request, there will be no public visitation. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
