Thomas Christopher Obituary

Thomas Christopher, 78, died suddenly on July 22, 2025, at his residence in Miami Beach, FL. Tom was born and raised by Mike and Ann Christopher in Natrona Heights. Several Har-Brack friends remained lifelong friends. College at Kent State University added additional friends. Becoming an assistant store manager at an Ohio Pier One Imports store was the beginning of a successful retailing career and geographic odyssey. It eventually led to Executive Vice President. After Pier One, Tom became President of the Barnes & Noble stores, traveling throughout the United States, selecting sites, and opening the "Super Stores" that became part of American cities. As President of Restoration Hardware, Tom "rolled out" the concept that placed stores in malls nationwide. As President of the Follett Higher Education Group, Tom was the executive managing hundreds of college bookstores. Residences paralleled the career locations, from Ohio to Annapolis to Fort Worth to Austin to New York to San Francisco to Chicago. Retirement included world travel, ballroom dancing, Miami boating adventures, and visits with grandchildren. Tom is survived by former wives, Susan and Barbara; children, Mark and Mia; grandchildren, Alina and Lorenzo; and brother, Michael. Tom was a good friend, and his friends will miss him.

Yesterday

Tom and my brother Joe were the best of friends. He was one of the best of the class of 1965. He and my brother were roommates at Kent State and they stayed close all of their lives until my brother passed. I am so very sad - two wonderful men have left us. Rest in peace dear Tom and tell my brother I miss him.

Condolences to Tom's family and friends. I was Tom's first admin when he started at Follett. He was a good boss and recognized my potential better suited to accounting. Based on his recommendation I spent the rest of my 20 year career at Follett in the AP department. Thank you Tom for the opportunity you gave me R.I.P.

I am somewhat stunned to be made aware of this. Always called him Tommy and he didn´t seem to mind. The world will miss you, Tommy and all the things that you accomplished.
