George Gordon Meade

November 7, 1942 - April 2, 2025

West Richland, Washington - George Gordon Meade passed away on 4/2/2025 in Casa Grande, AZ. He was born on 11/07/1942 in Yakima, WA. He grew up in Seattle, WA where he attended Sealth High School. He graduated from Washington State University (WSU) with a Bachelor's Degree in Public Health. He continued his education at Tulane University where he received a Master's Degree in Public Health Administration.

He returned to Pullman, WA to work 11 years at WSU before moving to Kennewick, WA to work at the Hanford Nuclear reservation in Health and Safety. From 1990 to 1996 he worked in Grand Junction, CO and Albuquerque, NM before returning to West Richland, WA to work at the Hanford site as a Health and Safety Lead until his retirement in 2001. After retiring, he and Ellen traveled for 15 years in their motor home and took several trips overseas. For the last 15 years they split their time between Casa Grande, AZ and West Richland, WA.

Gordon was a wonderful husband and father. He was a friend to those with whom he worked and met along the way. Gordon was an active member for over 55 years in Lions Clubs and often participated in fund-raising activities. He loved his garden where he grew produce, much of which he donated to local food banks. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends and acquaintances.

He is survived by Ellen, his wife of over 59 years, sons Kelly Meade (and daughter-in-law, Margo) and Jeffrey Meade (and daughter-in-law Darcy), and Grandson David Meade. He was preceded in death by his father Frank H Meade, his mother Glenna L. Meade, and Sister Loretta Esko.

Smart Cremation handled the final arrangements. No service is planned.
