Doris Buecher Obituary

Doris W. Buecher, 93, of Bedford, NH, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, at Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Born and raised in Bedford, Doris was the beloved daughter of the late Edward Buecher, Sr. and Cora (Beaupre) Buecher.

Doris was a proud graduate of St. Raphael Elementary School and Saint Joseph High School for Girls. With a strong work ethic and a sharp mind, she continued her education at the New Hampshire School of Business and Accounting. Known affectionately as "Dot" to those close to her, she surprised many when she enlisted in the United States Army as part of the Women's Army Corps (USWAC), where she rose to the rank of Sergeant First Class, a reflection of her determination and strength of character.

When her mother's health declined, Doris returned home without hesitation to provide care and support. Her sense of duty to family was strong, and she embraced that role with the same commitment and strength that defined her military service. She later became a dedicated supervisor at New England Telephone Company, where she worked for many years before retiring.

Doris embraced her retirement years with grace and joy. She loved tending to her gardens and houseplants, finding peace in the beauty of nature. She also enjoyed traveling with her cousin and dear companion, Bernie, sharing adventures and stories that brought her great happiness. Doris will be remembered with deep love and admiration by her extended family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Family meant everything to Doris. She is survived by her brother, Dr. Edward Buecher, Jr., of Kings City, OR; her niece, Leslie Ann Goan and her husband, Steve, of Hooksett, NH; and her grandniece, Miranda Ientile and her husband, Taylor, of Bedford, NH. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Duval.

Services: A calling hour will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 9 to 10 AM at Saint Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meeting House Road, Bedford, NH, 03110. A Holy Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 AM in the church. Military honors will proceed the Funeral Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bedford VFW or Saint Elizabeth Seton Church in Doris's name.

Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, NH at a later date.

The Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, Manchester, NH, has the honor of assisting the family.

I have known Doris for a long time. I had the great privilege to bring Holy Communion to Doris almost weekly and found our friendship growing even
deeper with these visits. I feel I received much more than I gave by her love and affection. I will sorely miss her joyful presence and feel very saddened by her
loss. I will always remember Doris. I extend my condolences to her family.

Doris was a dear friend that I have known for a short time. I would visit her occasionally and we would talk about her travels/military experience. She will always be in my thoughts/prayers.

I will miss my sister greatly, my weekly calls, my two visits home from Oregon each year, the first to celebrate her Birthday together with my niece Leslie and her husband Steve, and their daughter Miranda and her husband Taylor. I will miss hugging my sister each night before I went to bed and waking up to her greetings and the morning coffee she always prepared. I also will miss
our sharing of sporting events which we watched in the evenings.
I appreciated her dedication to family and the family home, giving me the opportunity to sleep in my childhood bed and roam around the neighborhood, occasionally seeing neighbors and old friends. Also giving me the opportunity to know her caregivers Jane and Delia, with Jane becoming like family. It was fun to go outside with them to feed the wildlife, turkeys, birds, and chipmunks, like being a kid again. Yes, I will miss you Dot very much; I will always have a special place in my heart for you and the joys you provided me through the years. Rest in peace my dear sister.
