Kevin M. Holmes-age 62, passed away suddenly on August 25, 2025 at his home in Fremont, NH after a period of declining health. He was born February 5, 1963 in Exeter, NH, son of the Leon Holmes Sr. and the late Pearl (Davis) Holmes.
Kevin grew up and pretty much lived his entire life at 84 Sandown Rd. in Fremont, NH. He was one of three children in his family and he was a 1981 graduate of Sanborn Regional High School in Kingston. Right out of high school, Kevin started his own transportation business after buying a tractor trailer. He began by hauling dirt to Boston for Red MacDonald and later he bought a log loader allowed him to haul logs and then later he hauled trash. He also plowed for many years for both the Town of Fremont and the State of NH. He had two sons around this time in his life-Andrew and Matthew which whom he lovingly raised on his own with some help from his parents when needed. Most of Kevin's professional career was spent hand and hand with his family at Leon Holmes Excavating. In the 1970-80's, the business did mainly logging work and Kevin excelled in his ability to drive heavy equipment. In the 1990's, the business transitioned to mostly excavation work. He worked there until his father, Leon retired. Then Kevin bought his father's equipment and started his own business a few years ago called Granite State Site & Utilities. He had cherished the last 14 years with the love of his life, Sandy Boerner. In his younger adult years, Kevin loved car racing which included driving stock cars, Pro-Stock and Modified's at Star Speedway and Hudson Speedway. Fast forward to the present and numerous years prior to his devotion to watching NASCAR and his post conversations with friends who won and who should have won. Kevin was talented at mechanics and seemed to be able to fix anything. But Kevin's love and affection began and ended with his family and loved ones. He was devoted to his parents especially in their later years. His two sons and grandson were the most precious things in his life.
In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his sister, Kelly Gallison and the mother of his children, Lisa (Thomas) Carpenter.
