Donald Lee Pullen

May 3, 1930 - July 17, 2025

Donald Lee Pullen was born on May 3, 1930, in Corning, Iowa, to Raymond and Esther (Stalder) Pullen. He passed peacefully on July 17, 2025, in Port Isabel, Texas, at the age of 95.

Donald proudly served his country, joining the U.S. Air Force in 1948 and continuing his service in the National Guard from 1949 until 1959. A devoted patriot, he was also a proud member of the American Legion for 49 years.

In 1966, Donald married Jan Stitzel; the couple divorced in 1991. In 1994, he married Dorothy Bilbrey, and together they made their home in Port Isabel, Texas, in 1995.

Donald had a varied and industrious career. He owned and operated a TV repair business, later working in construction and plumbing. He retired from Orr Trucking in 1994. Even in retirement, he remained active, especially at the local American Legion, where he continued to serve his fellow veterans and community.

He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, and riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles, of which he proudly owned many over the years.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; brothers, Kenneth and Darrell; sisters, Mary Lou Hensley, Deloris Harris, and Doris Pullen; his infant son, Donnie Lee Pullen; son-in-law Roger Fry; grandson Joshua Stitzel; granddaughter Amy (Kevin) Sharp; and great-grandchildren, Sterling and Adrianna Sharp.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Pullen of Port Isabel, TX; children Beth Fry of Creston, IA, Mike (Tim) Pullen of Chandler, AZ, Kelly (Tina) Stitzel, Kerry Stitzel of Grovetown, GA, and Christy (Dave) Daugherty of Council Bluffs, IA; grandchildren Renee (Glen) Hoyt, Austin (Kayla) Terry, Hannah Stitzel, Alisha (Ivan) Rojas, and Erica Pullen; and nine great-grandchildren.

Burial will take place at a later date in Clarinda, Iowa.
