Gloria Taylor Obituary

Gloria Ann Taylor

Stockbridge, VT - Gloria Ann (Guy) Taylor, 85, of Gaysville (Town of Stockbridge), VT, died on June 20, 2025, in her home surrounded by family.

Gloria was born May 25, 1940, at Gifford Hospital in Randolph, VT, the daughter of Clarence and Dorothy (Johnson) Guy. Gloria loved her school years, the first six in the one room schoolhouse in Gaysville, then on to Bethel (Whitcomb) for seven through twelve, graduating in 1958. She then attended Rutland Business College.

Gloria loved sports, especially Women's Basketball and Red Sox baseball. She played for the Whitcomb Girls team during her high school years and served as captain in her senior year. She was always ready for a local game of baseball or softball. At an early age she was interested in film, was pleased, and amused to be a movie extra in a couple of movies being made locally.

She married Donald Taylor on October 14, 1960, at the church in Gaysville. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and homemaker. Each place she and her family lived, no matter how humble, immediately felt like home by her presence.

Gloria quietly served her community as a member of the historical society, the church, and all things to do with the local school.

She enjoyed gardening, bowling, swimming, biking, reading, puzzles, sewing, and knitting. She had a lifelong concern for the welfare of children and animals. She looked for the good in everyone and everything around her. She was gentle and nurturing, but with quiet inner strength, intelligence, and a mischievous sense of humor. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Taylor, daughter Denise Taylor Clark and husband Sidney Clark Sr. of Wallingford, son Scott Taylor and wife Kim of Stockbridge, nephews Mike, Buddy and Sean, grandchildren Taylor, Sophia, Sid Jr., Sam, Spencer, Hayden and Quintin, great-grandchildren Phoenix, Skyler, Apollo, Carter, and Everett, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by both parents, brother Bruce D. Guy and infant brother Robert J. Guy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society.

A memorial service will be held at 10am on July 12, 2025, at the Gaysville Community Church in Stockbridge, VT, with all invited to gather at her home next door to share refreshments and memories. Burial will be private with immediate family.

Arrangements are under the direction of Day Funeral Home.
