Fraser, Jean
96, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025. Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, on January 9, 1929, Jean was the daughter of the late Laura Bancroft (Chaffee) and Henry E. Pettipas. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Jean lived a life full of love, purpose, and patriotism. As the wife of a U.S. Coast Guard Warrant Officer, she happily embraced the life of a military spouse while relocating to several states along the east coast. She created loving homes for her family wherever the Coast Guard sent them. Family was the center of Jean's world. She was the heart of every holiday, the ultimate hostess, and like the lighthouses she always loved, she was the guiding light of her children's lives. Always present, always involved, Jean was the quintessential room mother and confidante, ensuring her children felt loved, supported, and inspired every step of the way. Every holiday was a celebration. Every joyous and over the top Christmas seemed to eclipse the year before. Jean also had a remarkable knack for finding joy in the simple things. She loved to travel, explore garage sales, play Bingo and enjoyed collecting lighthouses, symbols of guidance and steadfastness, much like Jean herself. She thrived on planning parties both large and small for family and friends. She is survived by her loving children, Robert William (Karen) Fraser, David Lee (Norma) Fraser, and Lori (John) Head; and her grandchildren, Russell Fraser, Erin (Ken) Ellis, Austin (Natalia) Underwood, Emma Underwood, Jeana Fraser, Bobbi (Mike) Grady, Troy (Sarah) Poncin, Kristofer Poncin (deceased). She also leaves behind 14 great-grandchildren and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply. Jean was preceded in death by her devoted husband, William Fraser; her daughter, Linda Jean Fraser; and her brother, William Henry Pettipas. A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Rd., Clearwater, FL 33759, from 2 pm until the service begins at 2:30 pm, with a reception to follow. Jean will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the National Coast Guard Museum.
