Jon Richard Ware

June 21, 1941 - July 12, 2025

Jon Richard Ware, 84, of New Braunfels, Texas, passed away on July 12, 2025. He was born on June 21, 1941, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was a member of the National Living Legends of Dance and was inducted into the Dallas Dance Hall of Fame. He was also an active participant at Swing Junction and RoundUp4Charity.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Baron Ware and Mary Evelyn Lewis Ware; his brother, Charles David Ware; his son, Alex Richard Ware; and grandson, Jon David Ware. He is survived by his wife, Roxanne Ware; children Michael Ware (Brenda), Jason Ware (Amy), Stephen Taylor (Dana), and Amy Rodriguez (Candido); and his several grandchildren.

Yesterday

I knew Richard many years ago in Wichita Falls. We both worked at McClurkans while I was in school. At night we danced at Uncle Sam's Club. I never knew he was in Waco. There was never a friendlier over person in the world and there wasn't a song he couldn't dance to. I know heaven has a two step going now. RIP Dickie!!

I am saddened to hear of Richard's passing. He was a kind and talented dancer. I remember dancing with him often when I was at the Dallas Dance Events many years ago. The world has lost another amazing soul. We'll all meet again on that big dancefloor in the sky!
