Send FlowersWalter R. Sargent, “Sarge”, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025 in Madison, Alabama at home surrounded by his family. On July 1, 1941 Sarge was born to Dean and Walter Sargent in Tallassee, Alabama. He attended the University of Alabama where he earned his degree from the Culverhouse College of Business.
He was the beloved husband of Donna, a loving father and a proud Papa. He was a devoted member of the Church of the Highlands where he served faithfully on the Dream Team and assisted with over 2700 baptisms. His love for Jesus was evident in the way he loved and served others.
Sarge loved life and was larger than life to those who knew him. He loved spending time with family, Alabama football and after retirement being a “vacation dad”.
Sarge is survived by his spouse Donna; his daughters: Ashley Mosko (Tim), Susan Alexander (David), Lacey Sargent; brother-in-law Ray Hardy (Lisa), brother-in-law James Pate. He also survived by his grandchildren: Julia Detrick (Josh), Ethan Mosko, Isaiah Alexander and Mason Mosko; great grandchildren: Scarlett, Nixon and Lainey Detrick.
A Celebration of Sarge's life will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd, 2025, at 11:00AM at the Church of The Highlands, The Chapel at Grants Mill Campus, 4700 Highlands Way, Irondale, AL 35210
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of The Highlands, The Chapel at Grants Mill Campus, 4700 Highlands Way, Irondale, AL 35210.
