Richard Doman Obituary

Watertown, WI - Richard D. Doman, 74, of Watertown, WI passed away on July 24, 2025, peacefully and surrounded by family at his side, at Meriter Hospital in Madison.

Richard David Doman was born on June 26, 1951, in Watertown, WI to Claude and Elsa (Wille) Doman. Richard was a graduate of Watertown High School class of 1969. He was united in marriage to the love of his life Susan Borchardt on June 14, 1975. They recently celebrated 50 years of marriage together.

Richard loved farming, raising cattle, visiting the Amish, auctions, and driving the countryside. He was a proud member of Turner Hall for over 50 years and was proud to help co-author a book of Turner Hall's history as well as have an impact on legislation that impacted banquet halls. He was well known for his Schaum Tortes, cooking, humor, and his love for helping others. He was also honored to have served the board for the Rock River Equity Shipping Association. He was very proud to have served as the Watertown Honorary Parade Marshal in 2011. Richard was a big supporter of 4-H and FFA, supporting the youth in agriculture and livestock. His recent hobbies were growing garlic and gardening with his wife. Richard loved spending Christmas with his family. He was known for his quick wit and his big generous heart.

Richard is survived by his wife, Susan Doman and was a proud father of his four daughters; Rebecca Doman of Watertown, Lori (Ben) Wolkomir of Sun Prairie, Amy Doman (Tom Kouba) of Chippewa Falls, and Amanda Doman (Jason Yohn) of Watertown. Richard was also the proud grandpa of Elise Wolkomir. Richard is also survived by his brother Larry (Becky) Doman; brothers and sister-in-law, James (Tena) Borchardt, Casper Schmitt; as well as other nieces, nephews, many good friends, and his faithful dog, Bella.

Relatives and friends may gather on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown and at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Watertown on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A funeral service will be held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown. Memorials, if desired, would be appreciated to the family to begin an agricultural scholarship in Rich's memory. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service is serving the family. The family would like to extend a big thank you to all the family and friends that stopped in, called, and checked in with Richard, especially in the last few years as he battled many health issues. You really made a difference in Richard's time left here on Earth. Richard's family would also like to thank all the doctors and medical staff that helped him over the years.
