Georgine Coffaro Obituary
In Loving Memory of Georgine ("Gigi") Coffaro
Our family unexpectedly lost our beloved matriarch, Georgine ("Gigi") Coffaro, on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the age of 90. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 21, 1935 and lived a full and beautiful life surrounded by family and friends who adored her.
Gigi was a cherished mother to Joanne (William), John and Peter (Christine), loving grandmother to Brian, Michelle, Nicole (Erik), Hannah (Damian), Isabelle, Elizabeth and Noah, a doting great-grandmother to Asher and Opal, a devoted sister, and an incredible friend to so many.
Everyone who knew Gigi knew she was a people-person through and through. She loved connecting with others and sharing laughs, and lit up every room she entered. She loved animals (often sneaking table food to our dogs), and had a passion for shopping. Her days were filled with small adventures, from browsing shops and catching up with friends in her building, to enjoying coffee outings, watching movies, making bracelets, and spoiling her great-granddaughter, Opal, during their weekly visits. She embraced life wholeheartedly and found joy in all the little things.
Gigi built deep and lasting friendships, including very special bonds with her closest friends, Maureen and Pat, for whom our family is eternally grateful. She was blessed with countless friends in her building and beyond, and we take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with many of her loved ones in heaven.
Those of us fortunate enough to have known her will forever carry her warmth, humor, and love in our hearts. Her presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Gigi is survived by her three children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
She Is Gone "You can shed tears that she is gone Or you can smile because she has lived You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left Your heart can be empty because you can't see her Or you can be full of the love that you shared You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday"
