Kevin Wolford Obituary
Kevin Lee Wolford, 62, of rural Plymouth, died unexpectedly at 3:08 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Saint Joseph Plymouth Medical Center. Born on March 16, 1963, in Rochester, Indiana, he was a son of the late Roy and Elaine E. (Barros) Wolford. His formative years were spent in Rochester, where he graduated from Rochester High School in 1981. He continued his education at Manchester College, where he double majored in business and economics and earned a B.S. degree in 1985.
In December of 1988, Kevin met Deb Clupper through a blind date arranged by a mutual friend. They wed on August 19, 1989. One partner's strengths were the others' weaknesses. They supported each other well and were often described as, "Deb is the fun and Kevin is the sense." They spent most of their 35 years together living in rural Plymouth where they raised two daughters. An honest, kind, and forthright person, he entered the industrial sales field where he excelled, earning accolades throughout his career. Always a leader, he practiced the golden rule and treated his customers right. He worked for Brandeis Machinery, followed by Cummins Crosspoint Power and Refrigeration, McCann Industrial, and returned to Crosspoint Power and Refrigeration where he completed his career spanning 2000 to 2024. A Studebaker car enthusiast, he had several Studebakers in his collection and served as a past President of the Studebaker Drivers Club. In addition to his cherished 1955 Studebaker Champion, he completed a frame-up restoration of a Chevrolet Corvair that reminded him of time spent with his grandparents. Patriotic and politically savvy, he kept current with national and foreign affairs and the opinions of the late Rush Limbaugh and other national commentators. He enjoyed railroad history, tracing the old rights-of-way through the region, and the Indiana roadway known as the Yellowstone Trail. Ecstatic on the arrival of his grandkids, they quickly became his focus and joy. His granddaughters cherished their "Grumpy". He always pushed himself to enjoy his time with
family despite the pain of his spinal stenosis. Kevin was known in all walks of his life as an upright man. This was the core of his being and he never wavered from it. Always serving as head of household and leading by example, Kevin asked to be baptized at the time of the baptism of his first-born child. Survivors include his beloved wife of 35 years, Deborah Wolford; children, Elizabeth Wolford of Savannah, GA, Amanda (John) Ahlenius of Battle Ground, IN; grandchildren, Mallie and Marjorie Ahlenius; brother, Keith (Tricia) Wolford of Allen, TX; and sister, Karen (Gary) Scott of Macy, IN. The funeral service is at 11 a.m. Monday (July 28) at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley, IN. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until the service Monday at the funeral home. Memorials in Kevin's honor are to the Studebaker National Museum or The Donaldson Evangelical Covenant Church.
