Joseph McDonald Obituary

Joseph A. McDonald was welcomed into heaven on March 10, 2025 leaving behind a legacy of love. Born in Philadelphia on November 29, 1952, he was the loving son of the late Mary (nee Murray) and Joeseph A. McDonald, Sr. Joe was a lifelong resident of Norristown, Pa. and member of Saint Francis of Assisi parish. Joe attended the Vanguard School in Haverford, Pa. He was employed as a chemical loader at East Falls Chemical Company for 28 years and by the UAW for 10 years before his well-earned retirement. Joe touched the lives of everyone he met with his kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. Uncle Joe was a cherished member of our family, known for his amazing sports knowledge and political insight as well as his love of the Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies. Joe was a horse racing enthusiast and took pride in his race track handicapping abilities. Joe also loved his annual vacations to Ocean City, New Jersey with all of his sisters. Joe was the beloved brother of the late Mary McDonald Santangelo ( William), Sr. Margaret "Peggy" McDonald, IHM, his devoted caretaker in the last years of his life, Kay McDonald, and Eileen Strub (Richard). He is survived by his nephews, Mark Santangelo, Ryan Strub, and Colin Strub; grandnephews Max Santangelo, Sebastian Strub; and grandnieces Allison, Emily, Gianna, and Aspen Strub. Relatives and friends are invited to Joe's viewing at on Tuesday March 18, 2025 at Saint Francis of Assisi in Norristown, Pa., 601 Buttonwood Street, from 10:00AM to 10:50AM with his funeral mass to follow at 11:00AM.
