George Oczkowski Obituary

George P. Oczkowski, 86, of Newington, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Marie (Masselli) Oczkowski for 56 years before her passing in 2018. George was born in Warlincourt Les Pas, France on July 10, 1939, son of the late Piotr and Helena Czaja Oczkowski. He moved to Newington from France when he was 18 years old. George worked for the Town of Newington for 44 years, retiring as a Foreman. He was a faithful member of St. Mary Church in Newington. A big sports fan his entire life, George played soccer in his younger years. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. George also loved to travel; Perkins Cove, ME being one of his favorite destinations. Most importantly, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed. George is survived by his daughters Helene Pearson, and Christine Ryer and her husband Curtis; and grandchildren Zackery and Skye Ryer. He was predeceased by his son-in-law Jeffrey Pearson; and brothers and sister-in-law Ann, Joe, and Manny Masselli. George's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Masonicare at Greenridge Place in Rocky Hill for their exceptional care. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with George's family on Thursday, July 31st from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Duksa Family Funeral Home at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. His funeral service will take place at 6:30pm in the funeral home. He will be laid to rest privately in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington.
