Lora LaRosa Obituary
Lora (Scirica) LaRosa, 80, of Newington, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, July 19, 2025. The beloved wife of Joseph LaRosa was born in Hartford in 1945, the daughter of the late Frank and Jennie (Gural) Scirica. Lora grew up in Hartford and graduated from Hartford Public High School. At the age of 20, she married the love of her life Joe, her beloved husband of 59 years. They moved to Newington in 1972 and built a life together filled with love, laughter and lasting devotion. They were truly soulmates.
Lora's greatest accomplishment was her family and the love she had for them. She was so proud of her daughters and her grandchildren. She loved nothing more than the opportunity to celebrate them through all their accomplishments and endeavors. She was the happiest, surrounded by her family and friends, especially Bailey, who provided her with so much love and affection.
She started her employment with the State of Connecticut at the Department of Labor and later retired from the CT Lottery as an assistant accountant. Lora had a zest for life and enjoyed music and dancing, especially with her Knights of Columbus friends. She loved entertaining and was the life of every party, and her laughter always filled a room. She enjoyed gardening and was constantly changing her flower beds until they were perfect. She loved to spend time walking, especially with Bailey, taking her to the field and back. She was known for her deep love of animals and donated to many animal charities. Lora loved to travel and was blessed to see many parts of the world, but Hawaii and Italy brought her the most joy. She had a passion for football and would provide the statistics for her favorite players and teams. Go Chiefs!
A fierce and resilient spirit, Lora faced three separate battles with cancer over the course of 30 years. Each time, she met the challenge with unwavering courage, determination, and grace. Her strength gave her family the immeasurable gift of more time, years filled with laughter, traditions, and memories that we will carry in our hearts forever. Her legacy is one of endurance, love, and the quiet power of never giving up.
Lora was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother leaving behind her husband Joseph LaRosa of Newington, her daughters Karen and Christopher Main of Berlin and Kimberly and Michael DelMastro of Manchester. Her grandchildren Emily Michaud and fiancé Andrew McGuire, Kevin and his wife Evelin Main, Geoffrey Main, and her great grandson Thomas Main. Her sisters Carol and her husband Richard Rease and Gloria and her husband Robert Dean, her brother-in-law Paul and his wife Kathie LaRosa, her nieces and nephews, and with a special place in heart, her adored grand dog Bailey.
