Norma Ramsey-Washington Obituary
Norma Jean (Ramsey) Washington, 73 of East Hartford, beloved sister, aunt, sister-in-law and loving companion, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2025. She was born in Hartford, CT. to the late Frank Sr. and Florence (Austin) Ramsey.
Jean had many interests, soap operas, cooking, books and knitting. Dubbed the "Soap Opera Queen", she was the go-to person if you had any questions on the past or current story lines of "The Young and the Restless" or "The Bold and the Beautiful". Jean was an excellent cook. Everyone's favorite phone call was the one from Jean saying, "I made some Lima beans, come get some". Her love of books and crafts made her a regular visitor to her public library, where everyone knew her name. Whether there for a new selection of books or to participate in one of their special programs where she learned to knit. She quickly became very adept at knitting and volunteered with the library's knitting group to teach students at New Visions on how to knit.
Jean leaves to cherish her memories, her companion of 35 years; Robert Stone, sisters; Mary Matthews, Linda Ramsey-Scott, Deborah Jones, Sharon (Matthew) Davis, Sheila Hall and Darlene Ramsey, sister-in-law; Brenda Ramsey and special beloved granddaughter Adriana. She also leaves nieces and nephews; Michelle (Troy) Jones, Keysha Matthews, Tabari Stringer, Shakira Jones, Gregory Ramsey, Kanika Ramsey, Kara Ramsey, Michael (Jennifer) Ramsey, Tamarah Ramsey, Tara Norman, Andre Scott, Sherron Scott, Norman (Christine) Ramsey, Chevon Ramsey, Andrea Ramsey, Shontelle Ramsey, Tajah Ramsey, Bria Scott and Rashad Ramsey. 42 - grand nieces and nephews, 4 great nieces and nephews, special cousin David (Deanne) Ellison Sr., and a host of relatives and friends. Jean was pre-deceased by her brothers; Frank Ramsey Jr., Michael Ramsey, Norman Ramsey II, and nephew; Kehinde Ramsey.
There are no words to describe how much Jean was loved and will be deeply missed, her memory will forever live on in our hearts.
Her family will receive friends on Friday, July 25, 5 -7 p.m. and also on Saturday, July 26, 9 - 10 a.m. at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave, Windsor; The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 26 at Grace Episcopal Church, 311 Broad St, Windsor at 11 a.m. Burial will be private at a later date in Elm Grove Cemetery, Windsor.
