Regina Berube Obituary

Regina Deshaies Berube, age 80, returned to our heavenly father on July 9, 2025 surrounded by her family. Born on April 25, 1945 to Gerard and Elizabeth (Beaulieu) Deshaies of New Britain, CT, Regina graduated with honors from St. Joseph College, West Hartford, CT. She pursued a career in teaching. She had a passion for sewing, creating her own clothes, bridal dresses, and christening gowns. She met the love of her life, Robert Berube, in the basement of St. Mary's church. They were wed in that same church on July 25, 1967. In addition to being a mother of five and a teaching career, Regina served the Catholic church and her community. She facilitated RENEW counseling groups and was consistently conscientious of others in need. She became editor in chief for Robert's homilies and supported him unconditionally as he pursued the path to becoming a deacon. Regina leaves her husband Robert of 58 years and her five children, Robert F. Berube & wife Birgit Berube, Annemarie Berube Sundgren & partner George Clark III, Rachel Berube Beckwith & husband Brian Beckwith, Diana Berube & partner Brian Coffey, Michael Berube as well as eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She also leaves her sister, Janet Bertelsen and two nephews, Tommy and Steven Bertelsen. She was predeceased by her parents Gerard and Elizabeth Deshaies and her brother Joseph Richard Deshaies. Regina's family will receive visitors on Monday, July 21, 2025, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad Street, Plainville, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 19 South Canal Street, Plainville, with a burial to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 151 Farmington Avenue, Plainville, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Monsignor Bojnowski Manor, 50 Pulaski Street, New Britain, CT 06053. Bailey Funeral Home of Plainville has the honor of handling Regina's arrangements.
