Sarah DuBrava Obituary

Sarah J. DuBrava, a devoted mom and a beloved daughter, passed away on October 10, 2025, at Yale New Haven Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. Born February 9th, 1978, to loving parents Brien and Terry (Standin) Brown of Hebron, Sarah was just 47 years old at the time of her passing. Sarah grew up in Willington, Connecticut, and graduated from E.O. Smith High School in 1996. She earned a BA and an MS degree in Statistics from the University of Connecticut (UConn) in 2000 and 2002. She had a flourishing career as a biostatistician, working for several years at Pfizer and, most recently, as Head of Biostatistics at Longboard Pharmaceuticals and the lead of Biostatistics at Lundbeck Pharmaceuticals. Sarah was a hardworking and devoted mother to her two daughters, Hannah and Grace DuBrava, whom she adored. She will be remembered by the father of her children, Gerald DuBrava, brother Aaron Brown, dear friend Katie Roma, as well as by her nieces and nephew, Alyssa and Leah Brown, Olivia, Luke, and Sophia DuBrava, and Layla Brigante. In her free time, Sarah trained and ran in several marathons, including the New York City, Philadelphia, and Hartford marathons. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, and scrapbooking with her friends, lovingly referred to as 'CAM scrappers'. Most importantly, Sarah will be remembered for her generosity and kind spirit. Her loss will be mourned by many, but she will always be remembered with love; by her children, family, friends, and community. Funeral services will be held privately according to her wishes. The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with the care of arrangements. The family will be hosting a celebration of Sarah's life on Saturday, October 25th, at 11 AM at the Parish Hall located in St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Hebron. Sarah's passing is heartbreaking. The time we worked together was brief, but she was endlessly gracious about answering inane statistical questions, and always replied with a deeply insightful answer. She was an indispensable part of the team that went to Tokyo in April 2025 to discuss the regulatory submission, and I will remember with fondness seeing the cherry blossoms with her once the meeting was over. She loved to brag about her daughters and share photos from softball. I also associate her memory with the NYT Connections puzzle... she did *not* want spoilers, and after making that clear she would put the phone away to think about the options. Later in the day you would see her face light up, and she would pull the phone back out with a look of satisfaction to enter the solution. We will miss you, Sarah.
