Sandra Foisy Obituary
Haverhill: Sandra L. "Sandy" (Valenti) Foisy, age 72, a native and lifelong resident of Haverhill, died Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at High Pointe Hospice House, surrounded by her loving and supportive family. Daughter of the late Louis Valenti and the late Evelyn (Perkins) Valenti, Sandy attended local schools and was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1970, where she participated in the high school band as a drum majorette. She later attended Northern Essex Community College. During her younger years, Sandy took part in roller skating competition in the free style and pairs division. In addition to her home rink at Skateland in Bradford, she competed in rinks around New England. She was a member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill, the former Saint Joseph Parish and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Sandy was first employed by New England Telephone and Telegraph and then took time out to raise her children. When she returned to the workforce, she was employed at the Haverhill Gazette, AAA Auto Club, and as a secretary at the former First Congregational Church of Haverhill and finally as an administrative assistant at Haverhill City Hall until her retirement.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and daughter, Sandy created a warm and loving home for her family and went out of her way for others and especially excelled at making guests feel comfortable in her home. She enjoyed camping in Naples, Maine, traveling to Florida, Las Vegas, Virginia and North Dakota, and trips to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun.
Sandy was known as Memere to her grandson Douglas. Her title later evolved into Moto Memere because of her new found love of the sport of motocross that her grandson competed in. She was his biggest fan! She loved watching the professional races on TV and loved to talk about the races with her family. She attended races at Gillette Stadium with her family, which certainly must have kindled her somewhat late, but welcomed love for the New England Patriots.
Sandy will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of fifty-three years, Henry V. Foisy, a son, Chad A. Foisy of Haverhill, a daughter and son-in-law Jillian N. and Benjamin Bauer of Larimore, ND, a grandson Douglas Bauer, two sisters-in-law, Lillian "Cookie" Colbert and her husband Daniel of Mechanic Falls, ME, and Tricia Gilliam and her husband Jim of Savannah, GA, nieces, nephews, and several cousins, especially Susan (Valenti) Saey and Brittany Ellis.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Sandy's Life Celebration to be held on Tuesday July 8, 2025 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main ST., Plaistow, NH. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at 11:a.m. in the funeral home and followed by burial in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill, MA.
