Robinette McCullough Obituary

With hearts full of love and gratitude, the family of Robinette "Robin" Bailey McCullough shares the peaceful passing of their beloved wife, mother, and friend on April 30, 2025-just three days before her 77th birthday.

Robin was born in Palestine, Texas, on May 3, 1948, to Weldon Junior Bailey and Hazel Dean "Sally" Bailey. As the eldest of four siblings, she set the tone for a life of strength, compassion, and joyful perseverance.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sally and Weldon Bailey, and her younger sister, Wanda Grisham. She is survived by her brothers, Ronnie and James Bailey.

A dedicated student, Robin graduated second in her class at Eustace High School. She later moved to Dallas, Texas, where she began her career in commercial real estate at Joe Foster Co. It was there, in 1977, that she met the love of her life, Herschel Preston "Mac" McCullough. They eloped in Arkansas on April 21, 1978, beginning what would become 48 beautiful years of marriage.

With Mac came a charming 4-year-old son, Marc, and in 1982, Robin gave birth to their daughter, Michele-completing a family filled with an unbreakable bond of love.

Robin and Mac built a joyful life in the Lakewood neighborhood of Dallas, surrounded by dear friends and meaningful traditions. During those years, Robin especially loved being a Girl Scout leader and shared many fun adventures with over the years. She also found great joy in her circle of friends, with whom she shared laughter and fond memories.

Robin had a lifelong love of photographs-taking them, looking through them, and preserving them. She found deep meaning in documenting life's moments, big and small, and had a special gift for keeping the stories behind them alive. Her passion for genealogy grew from that love of family and memory, and she spent countless hours piecing together family history with care and curiosity. Anything that brought her closer to her roots-or gave her the chance to celebrate the people she loved-was a joy to her.

In 2001, Robin and Mac made the move to Wimberley, Texas, seeking the slower pace and natural beauty of the Hill Country. In 2005, Robin took the helm of the Wimberley Café-a role that became her second calling. For 15 years, she poured her heart and soul into the restaurant, creating a warm and welcoming place that served not only meals, but memories. Her impact on the Wimberley community was deep and lasting, and it was a special joy when her daughter, Michele, opened a business next door in 2010.

Robin and Mac retired-officially this time-in 2018, and enjoyed a well-earned slower rhythm of life. Even after being diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia, Robin carried herself with extraordinary grace and continued to bring light and joy to everyone around her. Her smile lit up every room, and her kind heart never wavered.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Mac McCullough; her son Marc McCullough; her daughter Michele Woods and son-in-law Derek Woods; her grandchildren Harper Woods (9) and Crew Woods (6); her brothers Ronnie and James Bailey; and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will carry her love forward.

Robin will be remembered not only for how she lived, but for how she loved-joyfully, unconditionally, and with a spirit that welcomed everyone. Her presence was a gift, and her absence will be felt forever.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Cypress Creek Church in Wimberley, Texas. A reception will follow at the church. All who knew and loved Robin are welcome to attend and honor the extraordinary life of a woman who made the world brighter simply by being in it.

I have so many memories of Robin at the cafe, surrounded by so many Wimberley girls, especially Temple and Anne! I loved serving with her on the EmilyAnne board and working with her on downtown projects. She lit up every endeavor she was part of! Visitors were so blessed to come to the Wimberley Cafe. She made everyone feel like they were welcome and belonged. She left a hole in us but we will see her again!
