Edward Armstrong Obituary

Edward Marcus Armstrong, age 94, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 11,2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on August 1, 1930, in Dayton, Ohio, Ed was the cherished son of Marcus and Norva Armstrong. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruby Armstrong, and his son, Chad Armstrong. A proud graduate of Roosevelt High School in Dayton, Ed was a gifted athlete who earned all-city honors in football, basketball, and baseball. His love of sports remained a lifelong passion. He played semi-professional baseball and basketball and could often be found watching replays of any good game, long after the final whistle blew. Ed began his career with General Motors in Dayton before moving to Lafayette, Indiana in 1970. There, he made his mark as both a successful restaurant owner and later as a trusted financial planner. He concluded his professional journey with Landmark Financial, retiring in 2000. In retirement, Ed remained active and engaged. He served on several boards of directors and was a devoted Christian whose faith guided his life and service. He also found joy in the simple pleasures, playing cards (especially Euchre and Rummy), laughing with friends, and spending time with family. Residents and staff at Cumberland Pointe will fondly remember Ed's presence in the dining room during Bingo games and an afternoon game of cards. Ed is survived by three sons: Todd Armstrong (Corinne), Kevin Armstrong (Bev), and Cory Armstrong (Diana); and two step-daughters: Traci Boyenga (John) and Rhonda Lanie (Jim). His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Tiffany Golden, Janell Campbell, Brian Armstrong, Christina Blacker, Luca Armstrong, Lance Armstrong, and Morgan Aguilar; and step-grandchildren Sydney Boyenga, Payton Lanie, and Grace Lanie. A life well-lived, Ed leaves behind a legacy of strength, faith, and love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel on Friday, July 18, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, Ed has requested donations go to Christ United Methodist Church at https://christumchurch.org/.
