Shirley Mae Nolen Stoker, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on November 7, 1939, in Myrtle, Mississippi. Her life was a testament to the strength and compassion that she carried in her heart.
Throughout her life, Shirley was a dedicated worker, serving as a sales associate as a jeweler at a Naval Base. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident to everyone who had the pleasure of working alongside her. Shirley's involvement in her community and associations reflected her desire to be an active and contributing member of society.
Shirley's Christian faith was a cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's challenges and joys. She lived her beliefs through her actions, always ready to lend a helping hand and offer a comforting word to those in need.
Her passions were as nurturing as her personality. Shirley had an unwavering love for good food, which she enjoyed both preparing and sharing with her loved ones. Her gardens were a source of pride and beauty, filled with vibrant flowers that reflected her own bright spirit. Shirley also found joy in the art of engraving, a hobby that allowed her to express her creativity and leave a lasting mark on the world.
Above all, Shirley was a caregiver at heart. Her life was dedicated to doing for others, whether it was raising her children, tending to her family, or offering support to friends. Her selflessness and generosity knew no bounds, and the impact of her kindness will be felt for generations to come.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Otha Eugene and Gracie Hudson Nolen; her devoted husband, Earl "Bill" Stoker; her caring sister, Francis; and her brothers, Billy, Glen, and J.W. Nolen. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her loving family, including her sister, Joann Brown; her three daughters, Lesia Chandler, Tammy Petty, and Jaclyn Meador; her two sons, Michael and Gerald Nardell; her seven grandchildren; and her six great-grandchildren, who will miss her dearly.
A visitation will be on Friday, July 11, 2025 at United Funeral Service from 10:00 a.m. until funeral service time at 11:00 a.m. Dr. Thomas Majers II will officiate. Burial will be at Ingomar Cemetery. United Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with these arrangements.
