EDWARD "EDDIE" MARION JONES III, 77, of Pinch, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 4, 2025, at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston after a short illness. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Eddie was born on November 21, 1947, to the late Edward M. Jones, Jr. and Mildred Bailey Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Michael Ray Smailes and sister-in-law Karen Lee Smailes, wife of Bill Smailes.
Eddie was a lifelong resident of Pinch, WV. He graduated from Herbert Hoover High School and attended West Virginia State College. Soon after, he joined the Army National Guard in Charleston, serving from 1967 to 1973.
Eddie was the owner and operator of Sales Builder Commercial Screen Printing. Some of his work included creating reflective decals for coal miner's hard hats for major coal companies in West Virginia. He also did work for Columbia Gas Company, the State of West Virginia, the City of Charleston, the Charleston Police and Fire Departments, and West Virginia University.
Additionally, Eddie printed all Stone and Thomas commercial signage for stores located throughout West Virginia, along with many other local businesses. Eddie enjoyed spending time at the family camp on the Greenbrier River, fishing, and playing cards nightly with family. He was a wealth of knowledge and had a keen interest in the stock market.
Eddie is survived by his loving wife, Linda Smailes Jones; stepsons Ritchie and Rodney (Amanda) Jordan; granddaughters Victoria Jordan and Kyra Jordan; grandson Edward Jordan; and brothers-in-law Jerry Smailes (Lori), Eric Smailes (Denise), and William 'Bill" Smailes.
In keeping with Eddie's wishes, he will be cremated. There will be no funeral services.
