Janice Arthur Obituary

Our dearest loving mother, JANICE DELORES ARTHUR, age 84, of Cannelton, West Virginia entered the gates of Heaven on July 13, 2025, peacefully at home. She was born March 04, 1941, in Carbondale, West Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Sylvester David "Huff" and Opal Hoffman. Janice was also preceded in death by her husband Benjamin Franklin Arthur, her brother James Hoffman, and her two sisters Kay Phillips and Linda Colyer (Bill).
Janice was a school teacher who began her career at Powellton Elementary School in Powellton, WV at the age of 19, and continued to teach for the next 25 plus years in different local schools. She was also an active member of Carbondale Baptist Church where she was the pianist for many years, a Vacation Bible School Leader, Sunday School teacher, and a member of the choir. She also volunteered in the community, with one example being going to the local nursing home monthly and playing the piano and singing to the residents with some of her church members. Janice was also a beloved wife, daughter, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many, especially those at her local Senior Citizen Center where she went daily. She was a loving and selfless individual who lived her life to the fullest and through the Lord.
She is survived by her daughter Sherri Willis (Terry) and her son Stacey Arthur (Lisa). She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren: Megan Kuntz (Justin), Mackenzie (Roy Farley), Austin Arthur (Kristen), Matthew Willis (Madison), Noah Arthur, Morgan Willis, Maxwell Willis, Michael Willis, Titan Arthur, Mollie Willis, Madison Willis, Brayden Arthur, Mitchell Willis, and Micah Willis, her great grandchildren: Blake Kuntz, Dawson Kuntz, Liam Willis, and Kaedence Arthur, her sister-in-law Betty Hoffman of Cannelton, West Virginia, her brother-in-law Gene Phillips of Middletown, Delaware, her best friend Nancy Treadway Hensley, and lastly her cat Tigger.
Services will be held Friday, July 18, 2025, at 1 p.m., at Carbondale Baptist Church in Cannelton, West Virginia with Pastor William Jeffrey Floyd officiating. Burial will follow at Montgomery Memorial Park in London, West Virginia. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service.
