Dale Ketchum Obituary
Dale Evans Ketchum, age 65, of North Tazewell, Virginia, drew her last breath here on earth on Friday, September 5, 2025, in a Salem, Virginia, hospital following an extended illness. Dale was born on March 24, 1960, in Tazewell County and was the daughter of Eugene Matney and the late Nannie Mae Chambers Flannigan. She had attended Tazewell High School, and after marrying her husband, John, they worked and traveled with a circus. She later worked in the health care industry, but had dedicated most of her life to caring for her family. Dale was known for her heart of gold; she had a caring, loving spirit, and was the world's best wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was an avid collector of dream catchers. Her greatest joy was being with her family, cooking for them, and making her amazing cornbread. She always cooked as if she were feeding an army just in case someone dropped by to eat. Dale's two favorite sayings were, "Love all y'all working farmers", and "not goodbye, but I'll see you later". In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her son, Indian Ezra "Boo" Ketchum, sisters, Dorothy Swim, Nancy Horn, Shirley Horn, brothers, Wayne Flannigan, and Harrison Flannigan, and one great-grandson, Karlston Kowalkowski. Those that remain to continue her loving spirit are her, Loving husband of 45 years, John George Ketchum Sr., of North Tazewell, VA Children: Trish Ketchum of North Tazewell, VA John George Ketchum, Jr. and his fiancée Tiara Hutton of North Tazewell, VA Shana Ketchum of Abingdon, VA Sister, Linda Williamson, and her husband, Bernard of North Tazewell, VA Sister of the heart, Darlene Bowman, and her family Brother, Richard Matney of Boissevain, VA Grandchildren, Destiny Ketchum, Gage Hankins, Cameron Hankins, Emily Hankins, Levi Kowalkoski, Justin Kinder, Brianna Kinder, Easton Ketchum, Weston Belcher, Lacey Ketchum, Mia Ketchum, Addaline Sandlin, Ezekiel Sandlin, Arian Bradley.
